   The typical features of this Park are long valleys, deep canyons and steep rocks, coated by dwarf pines or grassland even though the predominant are forest overgrows, lower and mixed forests with the abies, beech, spruce, larch, and  maple. Fit hikers can climb the tallest tops of the Nízke Tatry Mts. - Chopok a Ďumbier, which offer attractive views of almost half of Slovakia and are included in what is often referred to as the most beautiful ridge tour in Slovakia. Caves are also much visited assets of the area. Among them, the complex of Demänovské jaskyne caves is the most popular. There is a strong population of our game as a bear, lynx or wolf. Steenbok and marmot occur as well.
   The starting points for the visits to the Nízke Tatry Mts. are first of all the valley Demänovská dolina in the north with its tourist centre Jasná and Mýto pod Ďumbierom and Tále in the south or the mountain saddles Donovaly and Čertovica.



Demänovská jaskyňa Slobody cave
Location
: Žilinský kraj, okres Liptovský Mikuláš, Demänovská Dolina.
   Demänovská jaskyňa slobody is part of the huge underground karst system in the valley Demänovská dolina below the Nízke Tatry Mts. It boasts a unique drip stone ornamentation
, which makes it one of the most beautiful caves of Europe.
    The entrance is at the altitude of 870 m and it is accessible via switchbacks that start at the parking lot. One has to climb the altitude difference of 67 m (about 10 minutes). The total length of its corridors is more than 8,400 m, out of which 7,624 m have been surveyed so far. There are
two visitor routes available; the longer one of then is 2150 m long (can be walked in 100 minutes), while the shorter of them (1150 m) takes 60 minutes
.
   There are numerous large hollow spaces in this cave called halls and domes with wonderful
sinters. Veľký dóm or the Large Dome with dimensions 75×45×65 m is the largest of them. Apart from several stretches of underground channel of the Demänovka, the visitors can also see the cave lakes
. The big lake is as much as 52 m long and 7 m deep.
   In the Demänovská jaskyňa slobody cave there is a permanent
temperature of 6.1 to 7.0 degrees Celsius
all over the year. High relative air humidity of 94 to 99 percent is suitable for therapy. Diseases of the respiratory tract and allergies are successfully cured here.

Demänovská ľadová jaskyňa cave
   On the right side of the valley Demänovská dolina below the northern slopes of the mountains Nízke Tatry is another cave open to public -

   The cave known since the Middle Ages is the
second largest cave of its kind in Slovakia
. Though the first reference to it is from 1299, it was opened to the public only in the 1880's.
    The entrance is at the altitude of 840 m, about 90 m above the bottom of the valley. The
winding path leading to the cave starts at the parking lot. It consists of four floors with a total length of 2.5 km; the route around the cave is 850 m long and seeing it takes 45 minutes
.
   Its ice filling is about 400-500 years old. The Demänovská ľadová jaskyňa cave is also known for the
bones of cave bear found there. They were taken for remnants of drake in the 18th century. It is the reason why it was also called the Dragon Cave
. Ten species of bats live in this cave.
   Especially charming is its lower part called the "Freezer" with
icicles and ice waterfalls. Instructive path
, which also leads to the cave, provides additional information about this natural phenomenon.

Jasná
   Unique views, a broad range of pastes and modern lifts are all waiting at Jasná Nízke Tatry, the largest ski area in Slovakia. Jasná offers
46 km of pastes, 30 lifts and tow lines and 15 bars and restaurants.

   Jasná is the perfect ski area for families with children and for the most demanding skiers alike. The area's high elevation (up to 2004 m) and 437 snow guns covering 29 km of pastes all ensure great snow conditions.
    Families with children are sure to enjoy the attractive blue pastes on the northern side of Chopok and the safely fenced in Maxi land ski nursery facility and its experienced instructors. The free ride zone with its unique opportunities to ski through open terrain is the big attraction for adv
anced skiers and snowboarders.
   One of the oldest snow parks in Slovakia can also be found at Vrbická. The après-ski scene at Jasná is enjoying a surge in popularity. The Happy End night club at Biela Púť will surprise with its top no
tch sound and lighting system.
   The ski area also cooperates with the Tatralandia thermal water park and offers a direct bus connection (about a 20-minute trip). Unused days from multi-day ski passes can be exchange
d for entry to the water park.

Golf course Grey Bear Tále
Location: Banskobystrický kraj, okres Brezno, Horná Lehota.
   The 18-hole golf course Grey Bear is known because it is elegantly composed into the relief of the mountain valley of the Low Tatras. It is a popular resort in the surrounding of the Bystrianska dolina valley.
   Everyone form real beginners to demanding professionals, to whom golf means life, can enjoy the green. In Slovakia this golf complex has been active since 1997.
    The club Grey Bear attracts visitors by
golf simulators called Golf Blaster. It is of great help for beginners as well as for experienced golf players. The simulators are used for training of the basic position but also for training other activities like teeing, playing on the green and so on. Besides the simulators, these activities can be practiced on the practice fairway.

   Technical parameters:
an 18-hole course, a driving range, a chipping and a putting green.
   Additional services: a golf club, a rental office of golf equipment, a golf shop, a possibility to organize receptions and banquets after tournaments, a cultural programmed, accommodation.

Bystrianska jaskyňa cave
Location
: Banskobystrický kraj, okres Brezno, Bystrá.
   
On the southern end of the village Bystrá below the southern slope of the Low Tatras is the entrance to the Bystrianska jaskyňa cave, which consists of two: the Stará and Nová jaskyňa
caves with a total length of more than 3,000 meters.
   The locals knew about the existence of the Stará jaskyňa cave long time before its proper exploration started in 1923. Research concentrated above all to the abyss
Peklo (The Hell). Potholes used it to descent to the Nová Jaskyňa cave in 1926. The most beautiful part of this cave is Klenotnica
(Treasury).
   The cave, though without electric lighting, was opened to public in 1939.
A tour of the cave currently covers 580 meters and takes 45 minutes
.
   Speleotherapy or therapy of the respiratory diseases is successfully applied in the part called Spodná partizánska sieň (the Lower Hall of Partisans).

The Ďumbier Mt. - (2043 m)
Mýto pod Ďumbierom
    Difficult and strenuous all-day high-mountain tour with extreme altitude difference and length. It is not recommended for the short-day seasons. Possibilities of refreshment and emergency shelter is at the Chata gen. M. R. Štefánika cottage.
   The tallest mountain of the Nízke Tatry Mts. will have wonderful panoramic views for you if the weather is good. You can see the Slovenské rudohorie Mts. in the south, High Tatras and West Tatras in the north.

The Chopok Mt. - (2024 m)

Jasná
    Difficult and exacting all-day high-mountain tour with large altitude difference. Only the Kamenná chata cottage below the Chopok Mt. offers emergency shelter and refreshment. Do not abandon the ridge trail; northern slopes abruptly descending to the calderas at the end of the valley Demänovská dolina are especially dangerous.
   The path avoids the Dereše Mt. The detour to the top is worth the toil if you want to have a nice view of the environs. The Kamenná chata cottage at Chopok offers refreshment and the possibility to climb to the taller eastern top of the Chopok Mt.
